RAI's work is centered in its physical space. Each day, artisans gather to work, learn, and socialize over cups of tea, while community members and partners visit to learn and engage with RAI's mission. However, the facility at the hub of all this activity is fundamentally unfinished. Our facility lacks climate control, ventilation, and even a secure front door. Despite the limitations of our space, RAI has a long list of women waiting to join our program.
This pivotal project will make it possible to meet RAI's immediate goal to serve at least 100 women, as well as deepening the support we can provide. This complete renovation beings during the summer of 2025 and will create:
- Maker Space that will house raw materials and accessible spaces to use for creation.
- Gallery that will highlight culturally significant handicrafts typically excluded from traditional art spaces
- Retail space where artisans can feature their own creations
- Gathering space for community groups to visit and learn directly from artisans through workshops and tours.
